803 Downloads to cap off a week to remember
Jun 17th
(Prepare yourself it’s a long one!)
(Read to the bottom to find out why it took me over 12 hours to post this reflection!) What a week this has been and with the launch of the book today, it’s made it all the more amazing of a week.
As of this writing, Reach was downloaded 801 times today. My networks and communities once again surpassed my expectations. As I told my wife yesterday, I’d be tickled if 200 people downloaded the Free PDF. To have 800+ do it in the first day alone is just mind boggling. As I say in the book, More >

Best Plan for SIM Unlocked iPhone in the USA
Jun 15th
OK….so I’ve done my research over two years now and I think I’ve finally found the simplest and cheapest way to get your Unlocked iPhone to work in the USA when you are visiting.
All you need is an AT&T friend! 1. Find a friend who has AT&T service
2. Go with them to an AT&T store and have them ask for an additional line on their account. It cost a one time fee of $10.
3. Next have them activate the new number/SIM card with an iPhone account. They’ll ask you what data plan you want. $15 for 200MB or $25 for More >
Blogs as Web-Based Portfolios PDF
Jun 4th
The 2009-2010 school year ended for me early today and I’m just wrapping up a few loose ends before I head into vacation mode for the summer. I did want to release the Free PDF of the Web-Based Portfolio series I’ve been working on for the past couple of months. I’ve taken the four blog posts and put them into this PDF that you can download and use if you would like.
If this topic is interesting to you, I encourage you to join me at my ISTE 2010 Workshop that I’ll be doing on this exact topic (just a few spots More >
Book Release – June 15th
Jun 2nd
Honestly….I can’t believe I’m writing this blog post. My 4th grade teacher would be so proud of me right now (I might have to look her up and send her a copy).
Many readers to this blog who have been following me for more than a year probably realized that I’ve not blogged as much this year. That it seems like at times I forgot about blogging. I wish I had a better excuse other than you’re right.
In August I started writing a book. After being contacted by Corwin Press late last year, I started working on an outline and eventually working More >
Breaking up the Perfect Team
Jun 1st
If you follow baseball than you know that there have been two perfect games thrown this year. These are games in which the pitcher only pitches to 27 batters (3outs x 9innings). It’s a rare thing, in fact it’s only happening 20 times to date in all of baseball history. It’s called the perfect game. Where everything just works, just is….well…..perfect.
As this year comes to an end (3.5 days and counting) I’m put into reflection mode. Thinking about all the things that have made this year fun, frustrating, amazing, and special. All my memories come back to this being the More >
Blogs as Web-Based Portfolios Part 4
May 31st
(Part 4 of 4 on a series of blog posts to be made into a free PDF. Your feedback, ideas and thoughts are critical! Part 1, Part 2 & Part 3)
Making your WBP an Open Platform for Learning The two major benefits of having a Web-Based Portfolio are:
1) They are accessible from any Internet enabled device2) The ability to share knowledge and information with a wider audience
It is point number 2 that I feel WBP holds the most impact on students and their learning. When students have an audience that extends beyond the walls of their classroom something happens. Their writing, their More >
Teaching Filtering Skills More Important Than Ever!

(Thank you everyone for your concern! We are all safe in Bangkok this evening with Government imposed curfew on the city)
I’m not sure what the news is like about the Bangkok protests outside of Thailand. But inside of Thailand is has been sporadic at best. Leaving people wanting to know and turning to constantly updated streams of information such as Facebook and Twitter.
Twitter has made it big within our school community. Many teachers, students, and parents have been following different hash tags or lists. Popular Twitter hash tags have been #bangkok #redshirts #redshirt #thaicrisis.
Here’s the issue…..everyone has an opinion and both sides have been using More >
