  • Hello Gentlemen, Your conversation in this podcast with Andy Torres has provided tremendous material to support the school change. Using the vision statement and the establishment of specific indicators of achievement for your individual school makes sense.

Last year I attended NECC 08 in San Antonio. I’m an Australian teacher-librarian and this was the first time I’d realised the relationship between the NETS and the AASL standards i.e. to my understanding, it’s not entirely uncompetitive. Here in Australia we have worked closely with Ross Todd to develop a cohesive, collaborative approach with teachers using the general curriculum standards. It’s very successful here in Victoria with VELS and really is the only way to go. We work cooperatively with the subject teachers to embed skills to suit the each subject. Teachers must own the learning and the teacher librarian works as an enabler.

    Thanks for this conversation. Marvellous.
