Laptop Institute: July 10 – 13

As I’m rolling out the PD announcements I can’t leave out my most looked forward to conference of this summer. I’m honored to be this years Keynote at the Laptop Institute in Memphis this summer. A whole conference dedicated to 1:1 classrooms. Besides keynoting I’ll also be doing somewhere between 4 and 6 break out sessions. We’re gonna get geekie with it!

While you’re there…also have a look at the pre-conference sessions. If your school is going 1:1 garunteed you can find a pre-conference that will fit your needs. There’s only about 5 I want to attend.

I started blogging in 2005 and found it such a powerful way to reflect and share my thinking about technology, this generation, and how we prepare students for their future not our past.

  1. Hey Jeff
Laptop is one of my FAVORITE CONFERENCES of all Educational Conferences.
The people are wonderful — ready to share — and ready to learn.
The atmosphere is one of the best — it is all inclusive (food, conf, etc) and you will make Friends for life.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did the 2 times I attended….and make sure you take time to visit Memphis, see the Mississippi, and eat lots and lots of Ribs. (Rendevouz was my favorite!)

    Hello,
My name is Kimberly Holland and I am a student at the University of South Alabama and I was assigned to read this blog as a part of Dr. Strange’s EDM 310 class. I will be putting a reflection of your blog up on my blog. This post sounds very interesting. I have never heard of the Laptop Institute, but you intrigued me and I am definitely going to go research it. Thank you for sharing.

  3. Hi Jeff…

So excited you will be in Memphis this summer.

LI is kind of like a pilgrimage for me. It was there six years ago this summer that I first heard “the word” from David Warlick that began to challenge my own ideas about teaching and learning. I’ve been back every year since and have heard some tremendous speakers, participated in many illuminating conversations and, most importantly, made many wonderful friends. I look forward to being challenged by your ideas this summer.

The only bad thing? For the first time ever the Redbirds (PCL AAA Cards affiliate who play in Autozone Park immediately across the street from the hotel downtown) won’t be at home during the conference. Too bad, you would have loved catching a game at one of America’s most beautiful ballyards.

LI is an fantastic conference in a great city and the wonderful folks at Lausanne Collegiate are simply amazing hosts. Can’t wait to see you in Memphis.

    See ya in July!

  4. I am looking forward to being able to learn with you at the Laptop Institute. It is by far one of my favorite conferences, with great learning and conversations occurring all of the time.
