I think this is very positive and would love to see our state move in that same direction, although I wonder how far along our teachers are. I am leading a blog project through the National Writing Project that connects middle school students in my area of Western Massachusetts through Weblogs and one of the components is a science community. Our students will be doing a shared experiment, sharing data collection and writing up reports for critique and comment, and then later, they will be working on a science-based fiction story project. We are also setting up a Math Challenge blog for our students. I am excited about these ideas that come from the teachers in the project, who are definitely NOT technology savvy but are slowly uncovering the potential in these new tools.
