You can set Drupal to allow sign up without a e-mail….that’s a good thing for schools who do not have student e-mail accounts.
Drupal allows you to have a wiki, blog, podcasts all in one CMS system.
I really like drupal but need to spend some more time setting it up, hacking it up, and adding good modules.
What Drupal modules in your opinion are a must have?

I liked Drupal, too. From the sites I’ve seen created with it, I think it makes for a very dynamic site. We chose Joomla, but it was a close call. The email feature in Drupal wasn’t important because our schools still don’t permit student email accounts – yet, anyway.
Your question about embedding a video into Drupal is one I had about Joomla, as well, and it appears that there is no solution, as yet. I searched in the forums and found lots of questions but no answers. That seems to be the only missing piece for it to be a killer app.

E-107 steps ahead…
A less well known but up and coming CMS package is E-107. It sets up fairly easily, has all the bells and whistles of the Joomla without the challenges of configuration that Drupal still poses for non-php/my SQL skilled users. E-107 is bleeding edge in that developers have have taken it steps ahead by examining the shortcomings of Joomla and Mambo, excesses of Drupal and then omitting the superfluous while marrying the best features of these.
