Scientist from the RAND corporation have created this model to illustrate how a “home computer” could look like in the year 2004. However, the needed technology will not be commercial feasible for the average home. Also the scientists readily admit that the computer will require not yet invented technology to actually work, but 30 years from now scientific progress is expected to solve these problems. With teletype and the Fortran language, the computer will be easy to use.

A teacher sent me this today, thought I’d share. There is something to write about here, I just have to figure out what it is. (Found it!)

Update: Matt of blogschools was kind enough to point out to me that this picture is a hoax, created for a photoshop contest. Goes to show how easily we all trust the information that is passed on to use by others. The teachers were talking about this picture yesterday and I just assumed that it was real. I thought for a moment about deleting the posting all together, then thought against it as there is a lesson here. If we-who-know-best can be swept up in the coolness and ‘AH’ of the moment, what about our kids? With all the false information out there in the world how do we teach them to not make these mistakes? Mistakes like this are going to happen. I’m at the point now where I’m glad I shared this photo just so I could find out it was a hoax and before I really made myself look bad. Is that part of the power of a social network? Not only to say “Why to go, right on man!” but to also help each other wade through this chaos of information?
